Little Stuffed Kitty Pryde's Grand Day Out in Florida

Since we was depressed and homesick for Brooklyn (and Randi and Bully and Real Kitty Pryde 🐈‍⬛), John and I had a little road trip around Lighthouse Point and Ft. Lauderdale to cheer ourselves up today. First, we found a nice used bookstore here in Ft. Lauderdale: Big Apple Bookstore! (Pay no attention to that thumb in the picture)

A Grand Day Out: Bully's Long Island Adventure

We had A Grand Day Out renting a Zipcar and going out to Long Island to do the quintessential Long Island thing: shopping at big box stores! I yam exhaustipated!

A Grand Day Out: Seeing the J. M. W. Turner exhibit

While on our vacation in Westbrook, Conneticut, I am "taking in" (that's the way fancy art buffs say it) the J.M.W. Turner exhibition from The Tate Museum in London at Mystic Seaport Museum! Wow, I did not know he was quite so huge, y'all — he has an enormous autograph!

A Grand Day Out: Well, you know that it's going to be all right / When we go shopping / It's always, la-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la-la / The shopping spree begins

I had a tremendous day out today, going on one of my favorite activities: shopping!

"Shopping" by Barenaked Ladies (Reprise, 2003), written by Steven Page, Ed Robertson, and Kevin Hearn

First, I went to the grocery store: Fairway Market in Red Hook! Hey, buy me some of these and some Cracker Jacks!

A Grand Day Out: Shopping at the fabulous Sawgrass Mills® Shopping Center in Sunrise, Florida

Today, as long as we're in Florida visiting Mama Otter already, John and Randi and I (well, my stunt double Flat Bully, who takes us less luggage space than I do) went to the big-ass Sawgrass Mills® Shopping Center! But it turned out instead to be the fantastic Baxter Building!

A Grand Day Out: All Is Full of Björk

Hooray! I am at the Björk "Mid-Career Retrospective" exhibit here at the Museum of Modern Arts (we savvy New Yorkers call it "MoMa") in beautiful midtown Manhattan. I've been waiting to go to this exhibit all spring, and at last I'm here! Sadly, you cannot go. Because it closed yesterday. But I'm willing to share my photos with you! I hope that's a fair compromise in the face of an otherwise-Björkless lament by you.

Björk-tinued after the jump!

A Grand Day Out: Kirby Museum’s Prototype: Alpha: It Happened Is Happening on Yancy Street!

What would get a little stuffed bull out of the house on a cold autumn day to head down to lower Manhattan in the shadow of the Williamsburg Bridge, to...Yancy Street?!?

Unless, of course, it was meeting my good pal Mister Ben Grimm for a burger and a cola-flavored beverage down at one of his favorite watering holes. Luckily it's only a hop, a skip, and a little stuffed jump from Brooklyn on the F Train...get off at the Yancy Street station!

Naw, I'm kidding you...it's really Delancey Street. But it rhymes with Yancy and that's good enough for me.

Walk around the corner and down a couple blocks to 178 Delancey Street (on the corner of Attorney Street)...please ignore the taunts of the Delancey Street Gang...and in no time you'll be there: The Jack Kirby Museum’s Prototype: Alpha! (With a name like that, I bet there is Kirby Krackle all around it!)

A Grand Day Out: Eat a peach

Hi hi hi, all you good folks out there! If you're the sort of blog fan who sits out there frantically hitting command-R to refresh and re-refresh Google Reader Feedly, trying to see if the blogs you follow have been updated in the past sixty seconds, then you've no doubt noticed that I've been a little off-schedule with some of my posts recently (altho' I always strive to catch up with them at some point). In the interests of National Security Disclosure I'm now able to let you know what I've been up to when I haven't been instantly updating the blog exactly on schedule: I've been away at Peach Camp!

Yes, Peach Camp™, the exciting new summer camp for kids from 5 to 12, which is why my kid sister Marshall had to stay at home and eat cookies and watch TV all summer! Ha ha, Marshall! I got to go to Peach Camp and you had to...hey wait a minute! But I'm not complaining. Peach Camp, like comics, is a lot of fun! Please allow me to prove this to y'all and show my work through the medium of digital photography! (And I am specially grateful to Bully-Pal Heather for taking several of the photos. The really good ones.)

Off we go to Peach Camp! I am so excited I even forgot to ask if we could go to McDonald's so I could get a Eggamuffin for breakfast. That is really excited.

A Grand Day Out: Free Comic Book Day!

I sure you hope had an amazing Free Comic Book Day! Me 'n' Shelly the Little Otter Puppet certainly did, altho' I think at first we got the wrong idea and we were protesting to free the captive comic books.

We were at our fav'rite comic book shop in the universe, Bergen Street Comics in beautiful Brooklyn!

Our protest drew quite a little crowd! Thanks for coming out to support freeing the comics, folks!

Of course once we got inside and Tom and Tucker gave us some comics for free we got the point immediately. Oh, free comics!

Then, we had milkshakes!

And draft beer.

Later on, everyone agreed it had been the best Free Comic Book Day ever.

Thanks to pal Steve who bought the tickets, I'm seeing Natalie Merchant at the Tilles Center on Long Island for her tour to accompany her new album Leave Your Sleep! Sing "These Are Days," Ms. M! (She did!)

Thank you Steve, and thank you Natalie!
