Bully's Sketchbook: Raina Telgemeier

Lucy-Anne, queen o' my heart, started a sketchbook for me at last weekend's New York Comic Con. The subject? Yours little stuffed truly. I'll be posting these sketches bit by bit right up here to show off the beautiful artwork everyone has done. First up: the fabulous Raina Telgemeier (Smile (A Dental Drama), Take-Out and The Baby-Sitters Club graphic novels)!

Bully, by Raina Telgemeier

I'm head-over-hooves in love with her artwork! (And I have a little Bully-crush on her as well!) Buy her books and see her comics at her website! (Thanks, Raina!)

And that's why they call him Speedy

Roy Harper. Master archer. Cunning strategist. Male chauvinist pig. Oh sure, you say...in the sixties Roy would call Donna Troy "Wonder Chick." Where's the harm in that, you ask? Surely Roy has learned his lesson by the thirtieth century:

Panels from Titans/Legion of Super-Heroes: Universe Ablaze #1 and #2 (January-February 2000), script and layouts by Dan Jurgens, finishing art by Phil Jimenez, letting by Comicraft, colors by Tom McGraw

It's the beginning of the end of all time and space, and what's on the mind of the scarlet Titan? Saving the universe? Standing firmly beside his comrades? Nope: it's tryin' to get some Cargggite action:

Roy can appreciate a beautiful woman in any time-era of the DCU. Too bad he pays no attention to color (which might explain that costume of his):

Striking a blow for women everywhere...heck, for people of conscience everywhere...Luorna Durgo shows Roy exactly where to get off: to get off of her!:

You'd think that would be a lesson to Roy Harper, wouldn't ya? Then you don't know Roy very well:

When Roy finally finds out he's dealing with three, three, three girls in one, he's already mentally composing a letter to a men's magazine until Donna Troy shuts him the heck up, in a panel that's probably best left to the imagination but explains why Roy is several arrows short and waddling for the rest of the miniseries:

Still, with some proper mentoring and guidance by an adult figure in his life, surely Roy will learn the proper respect for women. After all, where on earth could he have learned such unacceptable behavior, anyway?:

Like father, like son? Think about it...won't you?

And lo, there shall come an ending...to a truly great blog

Dave Campbell Comics

Dave Campbell, master of all he surveys, is closing the lid for the last time on his blog Dave's Long Box. We here at Comics Oughta Be Fun! salute and honor you, Dave, not the least for the inspiration, fun, and perhaps the most commitment a man has shown towards Nick Fury: The S.H.I.E.L.D. Career Power Seminar. You will be missed, Dave. You'll definitely be missed. Don't you agree, Celine Dion?
