Yes, it's time for the Ineffectual October Calendar by Howard Chaykin, this time starring Sarah Palin and John Oates!

Come on, man! Time to answer your landline to participate in a Republican-backed phone poll that will be presented as representing 100% of the population of America instead of the sliver of percentage who answer blind calls and still have a telephone that won't fit in your pocket. Lookin' at you, Mom. Anyway, this little stuffed bull gives you the permission to ignore your phone all month.

The May 1968 2024 Calendar for This Menacing Year
I'm afraid to let you know that as the year goes on, it just keeps on getting even more menacing. By the beginning of November 2024 I will probably be announcing this blog to you over a megaphone as we're all paraded through teh streets on our way to re-education and attitude adjustment, and by the end of the year I promise I'll chisel it into any the rock that hasn't melted from the nuclear fire.
Naw, forget all that: I'm an optimistic bull, so for the moment let's look on the bright side of life. After all, look at America's favorite teen sixty-five years running: Superboy! He's certainly going to have a great May, including May the 4th (looks at calendar), uh, maybe not that day. Well, by the 31st he will probably have had a great month and OH CUT THAT OUT CALENDAR.

But who woulda thunk it came from the corner of a WWII-era Batman comic?

The March 1968 2024 Calendar for This Menacing Year
I love Spring. It's my favorite season of the year, especially when the ground starts to thaw and you can smell the earth, and the warmer winds whip at your jacket and make you believe you could fly like Ororo Munroe, if only you had a bigger jacket.
This year March comes in like a lion and goes out like a ham (Easter, that is), and my best pal John's birthday is on that last day, too. Another excellent month!
