Comics at Housing Works: Squirrels and spiders and sets, oh my!

Today in the Comics Cave I mined a rich new vein of Marvel True Believer reprint books, all available for $1 each in the Comics Rack at ⁦Housing Works Bookstore and Café! (Stan Lee himself gives this assortment a hearty excelsior!)

Who run the world? Squirrels! Squirrel Girl, that is! We got in some new issues of the perennially popular series and they're now in the Comics Rack, under "S" for Squirrel Girl, not "U" for Unbeatable! *Yeah, we've had some discussions aka arguments about that point). Don't go nuts, get 'em at Housing Works!

We've expanded and moved our ever-popular Spider-Man section to the much-bigger Comics Cart and added lots of back issues! Here's just a few of the recent Spidey titles on sale. Swing on over an' pick 'em up!

Complete sets of comic book miniseries and story arcs can also be yours — multiple comics packaged in one bag! We collect 'em together so you don't have to!

"And the rest!" as the season one theme song for Gilligan's Island told us. For a great selection of backissue comics, graphic novels, books, CDs, DVDs and more, please stop into NYC's Housing Works Bookstore and Café: 126 Crosby St. near the Broadway-Lafayette (B/D/Q/F) or Bleecker Street (6) subway stations!

All these comics are now on sale (or will be) in the Comic Department at Housing Works Bookstore and Café, 126 Crosby St., New York City. (Subway directions: Take the B, D, F or M train to Broadway/Lafayette, or the 6 train to Bleecker Street). Availablity of these issues not guaranteed, because sometimes they sell fast! But there's always plenty of other comics (and books, CDs, DVDs, and records to peruse)! Ask for Bully, the Little Stuffed Bull Who Runs the Comic Book Section!

Update as of 9/21/2021: The comics department at Housing Works has closed and the stock has been sold off. I no longer volunteer there. There is still a very small section of comics available for sale, but without the previous range and variety. Please be nice to the clerks and staff when you visit; this was not their decision.

Comics at Housing Works: What I bought at Housing Works for myself

Naw, I'm only kidding about buying that whole big blue bag of comics — that's what I use to carry stock upstairs from the basement!

But I did buy some great comics at Housing Works Bookstore and Café, where I volunteer in the comics department, and I've been meanin' to show them to y'all!

(Yes, lots of Kirby reprints. And Mxyzptlk comics. And one where a razor turns into a robot.)

I actually hardly ever buy floppies anymore (I'm more digital now) but these are goin' on my comics spinner!

Remember, that's Housing Works at 126 Crosby St., where you can buy fine comics just like these! Well, not just like these, because these are mine. But there's some other great ones there, too.

Comics at Housing Works: Behind the Music Comics

Some of you have asked what it's like in the Comics Cave deep ine the basement at Housing Works Bookstore and Café where I mine you all those dandy comics. Here's a small peek!

Oh man, guess I gotta pick up that mess.

Comics at Housing Works: Comics? We've got even more of 'em!

In addition to all the new Marvels I told you about earlier, here's more comic books that you can now buy at the famous Housing works Bookstore and Café Comics Rack!

Today in Comics History, May 23, 1983 and 2001: Bad News, Good News

There are newspapers! Of course there are. Well, let's read the terrible headline first:

from Back to the Future: Biff to the Future #5 (IDW, June 2017), story and script by Bob Gale and Derek Fridolfs, pencils by Alan Robinson, inks by Alan Robinson and Jaime Castro, colors by Maria Santaolalla, letter by Shawn Lee

GREAT SCOTT! How's Doc Brown gonna get out of this one? Oh! (sees there is one issue left) Well, it's not like a comic book ever served up a cliffhanger before, but I'll wait and see.

Meanwhile, here's the good news, or at least the puff piece. Really, was it that newsless in Metropolis on that day, Perry?

from Wonder Woman (1987 series) #170 (July 2001), script by Phil Jimenez and Joe Kelly, pencils by Phil Jimenez, inks by Andy Lanning, colors by Patricia Mulvihill, color separations by Heroic Age, letters by Comicraft

Geez, why doncha marry her, Lois?
