The Marvel Calendar for 2011 2022: September Strike Soldier

...well, you come up with a synonym for "War Machine" that begins with all "S"s.

September is upon us, and it's now time to see all those who you missed all summer saying goodbye at the station for summer vacation took them away. As we noted last month, there's no more Marvel Age 1994 calendars (boo, hiss!) because the magazine got abruptly cancelled (even booier and hissier!). For a Calendar You Can Use in 2022™, we'll have to make do with some replacements. How about this handy September calendar from the never-aging world of the Simpsons?

from "The Prime of Miss Lisa Simpson" in Simpsons Comics #44 (Bongo, August 1999), script by Ian Boothby, pencils by James Lloyd, inks by Tim Bavington, colors by Nathan Kane, letters by Jeannine Crowell Black

Eh, that ain;'t gonna be much use, right? So let's try this handy calendar from the cover of a Batman and/or Superman comic book, which would be great to pin on your wall this month if only that dang Winged Rat and Big Blue weren't standing in front blocking most of it!

cover of Batman/Superman (2019 series) #22 (DC, November 2021), pencils by Ivan Reis, inks by Danny Miki, colors by Sabine Rich

But if you want a full, unobscured version of a September calendar for this month featuring Batman, you oughta flip through your back issue collection and clip out this panel from Batman #166 (formerly worth $400, now worthless because you clipped a panel out of it, so don't do that).

from "Two-Way Deathtrap!" in Batman (1940 series) #166 (DC, September 1964), script by Ed Herron, pencils by Sheldon Moldoff, inks by Joe Giella, letters by birthday boy Gaspar Saladino

Eh, still not quite what we wanted. So we'll make do with this month's entry from 2011: The Marvel 2011 Calendar to be precise, featuring the pleasant and not-at-all-threatening countenance of all-armored-up James Rhodes! Ain't he shiny?

More calendars to come? Why, yes, sointainly!

Batman, Ed Herron, Gaspar Saladino, and/or Julius Schwartz apparently can’t spell “calendar” — whereas Bully can, but got me wondering just what Speptember is about…

Speptember: An extra month on the calendar of Riverdale, named after Pep Comics.

(You should see some of the ways I've typo'd the month so far, including more than a few times typing "August.")
