Today in Comics History, August 12: Happy birthday, Jane Wyatt!

Born on this day in 1910: actor Jane Wyatt, known for her TV role of Margaret Anderson on Father Knows Best and many movie roles (Great Expectations, Lost Horizon, Hurricane Smith, Treasure of Matecumbe and many more). Here she is in 1961's The Two Little Bears with Brenda Lee and...let's say, uh...Jimmy Olsen.

Why, she's such a movie star that Ray Palmer went back in time to catch pone of her movies. Scientifically brilliant as he is, he still hasn't master the intricacies of Blockbuster.

But you (and me) may know here best as Amanda Grayson from that popular show Spock's Mama's Place Star Trek!

from Star Trek Movie Special #2 [Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home] (DC, April 1987), script by Mike W. Barr, pencils by Tom Sutton, inks by Ricardo Villagran, colors by Michele Wolfman, letters by Agustin Más

Here, she gets to foster mom yet another kid. That makes four by ultimate canon count. Stop bringin' 'em home, Sarek!

from Star Trek: Untold Voyages #2 (Marvel/Paramount Comics, April 1998), script by Glenn Greenberg, pencils by Michael Collins, inks by Keith Williams, colors by Matt Webb, letters by Chris Eliopoulos

I could only find those couple appearances of Wyatt's Amanda in comics. All the others seem to be Winona Ryder or Mia Kirshner! Not that I'm complaining about those. Oh, and then there's this:

Happy birthday, Jane Wyatt!
