Born on this day in 1911: comic book writer and artist Charles Biro, who started up at the Harry Chesler Shop, Hillman Publications (where he co-created Airboy) and MLJ (Archie) Comics, but he's become best known as one of the great creatives of Lev Gleason Comics, where he worked extensively on Daredevil Comics, co-created Crime-Buster, and edited and created for the seminal Crime Does Not Pay.

Born today in 1898, so don't mention his age: Lev Gleason, writer, editor, and publisher of the aptly named Lev Gleason Comics line (what are the chances, huh?), including Daredevil Comics, Crime Does Not Pay, and Boy Comics, Silver Streak Comics, Black Diamond Western, and many others.

Daredevil battles Hitler! That's Bart Hill, the Golden Age Daredevil (aka Doubledare, Reddevil, and Death-Defying 'Devil), not Matt Murdock, the Silver Age and beyond Daredevil. I mean, not that Matt Murdock wouldn't punch Hitler, but I just can't see him doing it. (Neither can he! BWAH-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!)
