from "The Hidden World!" in Sub-Mariner (1954 series) #36 (Marvel/Atlas, November 1954); script, pencils, inks, and letters by Bill Everett

Weird stuff start's a-happening! Fish disappear! Africa becomes misshapen! Leonard Nimoy is dispatched to the scene In Search Of!

Say, tell me, are the penguins still okay, or are they frozen into place?

The entire Earth is freezing slowly to death! Clearly this is a job for...The Human Torch! What?... The Sub-Mariner?!? When there are freezing things that need to be melted? Okay, if you insist, but I hope Namor is coming with at least a couple hand-held hair-dryers.

When all is said and done and the Sub-Mariner saves us from the eclipse and from turning our world into frozen Earth-sicles, do you think the humans will regard him with awe and gratitude? Do you think the Sub-Mariner will now realize he's just part opf one big global community and learn to love humanity?
Naw.

Thank you, Namor, for saving us from the Eclipse, and, uh, thawing out those penguins, I guess.

Suffering shad! Also hurting halibut, aching albacore, painful perch, distressed dolphin, agonizing amberjack, miserable monkfish…
