It's weeks like this that are the reason that I invited a little puppet-town cow-blog features called How Many X-Men Comics Were Released This Week?, because believe it or not, when you step up to the comics stands this week, you'll find, crowding out orther comics with sharp claws and nasty fangs, that there were

• A+X #2: It's a comic book featuring both Avengers and X-Men! Say, why don't they call this comic something like...I dunno, Mighty X-Men...or maybe...Uncanny Avengers?!? Has a ring to it!
• All-New X-Men #2: What do you suppose they will title this series when it's published in trade collections? Originally Published in Comic Book Format X-Men?
• Astonishing X-Men Annual #1: Remember when annuals were double-sized and had a perfect-bound spine and they came out in the summer and you looked forward to them every year? Yeah, me either.
• Gambit #6: No, really, is this comic book coming out every week? Because that's just too much Gambit for anyone.
• Ultimate Comics X-Men #19: If you told all the late-1980s fanboys that their favorite, Kitty Pryde, was someday going to headline an X-Men team book, I bet their collective heads exploding would sheer joy would have shook the earth off its axis. Also, did you ever think that in a week in which eight X-Men comics were released, the one from the Ultimate Universe would be the one with the highest issue number? Why, it has been being published nearly two years!
• Uncanny Avengers #2: It's a comic book featuring both X-Men and Avengers! Say, why don't they call this comic something like...I dunno, X+A...or maybe...A+X?!? Has a ring to it!
• X-Men Legacy #2: X-Men Legacy! The book that replaced X-Men v.2 that replaced New X-Men that replaced X-Men v.2*. Oh, this is X-Men Legacy v.2? Boy, Marvel, must really be thinking we have infinite capability to keep all this X-Men comic book publishing history straight in our heads, don't they! *I did not have to look that up.
• X-Treme X-Men #7: Scuttlebutt on the Twitterverse (say that three times fast) says this is one of the more entertaining new X-Titles out there. But, of course! It stars Dazzler.

Next week: this little stuffed blogger will be out on assignment and won't be counting those X-Men titles, so will you please do it for me and let me know? WIll it be six? Will it be nine? Will it be, in Marvel's quest to give Brian Bendis eighteen titles to write and to therefore take over the world of comics, thirty-three? • Astonishing X-Men #56: The aftermath to Northstar's wedding continues, interminably, but hey! Ice-Gambit is in this issue! What? He isn't? He's only on the cover? We demand Ice-Gambit get his own series!
• Ultimate Comics X-Men #15.1: Say that three times fast! And hey, this issue is apparently all about a staring contest. Say, what if™ those Point One issues had existed all through the history of Marvel? I bet FF #51 would have been #50.1. And that would be criminal.
• Uncanny X-Force #34: Hey, Wolverine is in this one! That's always a nice thing...
• Wolverine #316: ...because there's no such thing as too much Wolverine...
• Wolverine and the X-Men #21: ...at least, until you hit this Wolverine:

• X-Factor #247: The field has been narrowed down to the top ten! Who will fall by the wayside and who will be the #1 choice? How Many X-Men Comics Were Released This Week? (11/14/12)

Whoops! No sooner do I introduce a running feature than I forget to do it for a couple weeks. Well, to keep this subject running and to fill in a post for an another slow-news Wednesday night, here's another mutant-crammed installment of...How Many X-Men Comics Were Released This Week!

• All-New X-Men #1: Hooray! At last, some all-new X-Men! Brand-new and never before seen! Exciting new characters who...wait a minute, it's the original five again? I shall be contacting the Better Business Bureau about truth in advertising, my good sir!
• The First X-Men #5: whoo-hoo! At last, a miniseries spotlighting the original X-Men! By golly, ya gotta love Teen Cyclops and Marvel Girl and Angel and what the Sam Scratch is this?!?!. Wehy, it's a Neal Adams miniseries that's nowhere near as looney as Batman: Odyssey, about the team of X-Men before X-Men. Whoo! Now that John Byrne's Marvel: The Lost Generation has become so amazingly popular, it was only a matter of time before the X-Men version came along!
• Gambit #5: Very canny of Marvel to put this comic out during the same week the new James Bond movie debuted, as Gambit's startling new origin—he's British!&151;is apparently revealed in this issue.
• Wolverine and the X-Men #20: Remember that TV show The White Shadow, in which a former pro basketball player (Ken Howard) coached a school team in the inner city? It's like that, except with Wolverine.
• X-Men Legacy #1: Because you demanded it: Volume Two of X-Men Legacy! For every one of those fans out there who was demanding a series about an X-Men team led by David Haller. I'm betting this book could sell several thousand copies a month, if each of Legion's personalities buys one.
• X-Treme X-Men #6: X-X writer Greg Pak promised us a couple days ago that another Earth-616 mutant would appear in this week's issue! I can only hope it's Maggott.

Hey, didn't I mention Gambit #4 and X-Treme X-Men #5 in my last post about how many X-Men comics were released only a few weeks ago? Is Marvel releasing these titles several times a month in an attempt to crowd other titles off the new release rack? Naw, if that were true they'd be releasing multiple X-Men titles every wee...uh oh. Well, at least Marvel only released two Avengers titles this week, and you can always say that they're not DC, who released both Batman #14 and Batman and Robin #14 this week. (Weren't the four Batman titles supposed to rotate weekly?) Next thing you know, they'll be releasing Uncanny X-Men and New X-Men and Astonishing X-Men and...whoops. See, that's what I miss when I don't give you, every week, a feature called How Many X-Men Comics Were Released This Week?

How Many X-Men Comics Were Released This Week? (10/24/12)

As part of this blog's ever-continuing service to the community (at least, that's what the court says it counts as), we now present a new weekly feature that tells you just exactly How Many X-Men Comics Were Released This Week. With this handy guide, you can keep track of exactly how fully Marvel Comics is flooding the market with out merry mutants, who, we shouldn't forget, were pretty much cancelled in early 1975. • A vs X: Consequences #3: Reminding us that when you take over the world and kill your former headmaster, there are generally consequences. Said consequences being a crossover event that never freakin' ends.
• A-Babies vs. X-Babies #1: From the House of Ideas, a brand-new concept in keeping comics fresh by using a concept straight outta 1986:

• Astonishing X-Men #55: The Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight of the X-Men Mythos!
• Gambit #4: A comic book about a betting man who wouldn't put any money on his comic book lasting past twelve issues.
• Wolverine #315: For the 315th month in a row, Wolverine is the best there is at what he does, and what he does is allow you to imagine how cool it would be to kill bad guys with your bare hands!
• Wolverine Max #1: The same, but TO THE MAX!
• X-Treme X-Men #5: Exiles with Dazzler. That's not just the elevator pitch, that's the storyline!

So there you are! Seven incredibly different X-Men titles, all on sale next to each other on the comic book store shelf this week! Two of them with big-ass AvX headers, two of them red, two of them white!
