Born on this day in 1955, Dave Stevens, comics writer and artist and animation and movie storyboarder. We know him best as the creator and author/artist of The Rocketeer, and he's also done work on Jonny Quest, Airboy, and Bettie Page Comics (natch!)!

Kim Thompson is right, as usual

In all the hoopla-stravanga over the twenty-fifth anniversary of a movie that, let's face it, just hasn't aged very well, let's look at the words of the late great Kim Thompson about Batman '89 over in Amazing Heroes, The Comics Journal's superhero-lovin' kid brother. Take especial note of the prophetic last para:
