Today in Comics History, September 27: Happy birthday, Avril Lavigne!

Born on this day: Grammy-Award-winning singer/songwriter Avril Lavigne ("Complicated," "Sk8er Boi," "Don't Tell Me," "My Happy Ending" and more)! What's that gotta do with comic books, you ask? Well...

Yes, Avril actually appears in the manga, as the (imaginary) pal of the troubled protagonist:

But the rules tell us that she can't get an entry in The Official Handbook of the Avril Lavigne Universe until she's made an appearance in three comic books. So lucky, then, that we have this comic:

Not to mention this, whatever this is:

So, in conclusion, everybody loves Avril Lavigne. Isn't that right, Wrecker?

Happy birthday, Avril! I'll always be your Sk8er Bull.
