I was always puzzled by Alan Hewetson's fascination with the word "archaic." He even nicknamed himself "Archaic Al." He didn't seem to realize the word means "antiquated," and used it as if it meant "eerie." He was also big on "fetid," meaning "having an offensive odor, stinking." Sometimes he used it accurately, other times, not so much. "The ice was driven through the stinking air like snow" sounds a bit off considering it's Antarctica we're talking about. I wonder if Archaic Al ever thought to write, "We don't got to show you no fetid badges!"
