Today in Comics History, March 29: Happy birthday, Val Mayerik!

Born on this day, so let's pop open a bottle of Cold Duck and salute him: Val Mayerik, commercial and comic book artist, known for his work on Fear, The Frankenstein Monster, Sherlock Holmes, Ka-Zar and more, plus lots of gaming manuals. And oh yeah: he co-created a little feathery protagonist called Howard the Duck, as well as Foolkiller, Dakimh the Enchanter, Wundarr the Space Jesus Aquarian, and the cancelled-so-fast-you-could-see-the-pages-fluttering Void ndigo!! So geez, Marvel, would it have killed you to put his photo on more than just one birthday calendar box?
