Today in Comics History, February 6, 1994: The King is dead. Long live the King!

On this day in 1994, the great Jack Kirby passed away. We still miss him tremendously.

Below are excerpts from his obituary/celebration in Marvel Age #138:

"The Little King" by Jonathan Michael Baylis

"Stan's Soapbox" by Stan Lee

"Hembeck" by Fred Hembeck

And from that month's Marvel Comics. Note the black border surrounding the next two pieces consists of Jack Kirby's creations. Even ones from DC!

from "Bullpen Bulletins" in Marvel Comics cover-dated June 1994

But is Jack ever really gone? I like to believe he's still creating. Maybe creating our crazy world.

from Fantastic Four #511 (Marvel, May 2004), script by Mark Waid, pencils by Mike Wieringo, inks by Karl Kesel, colors by Paul Mounts, letters by Randy Gentile

So long, King. Your presence is both missed and will be forever with us.

from "This Is a Plot?" in Fantastic Four Annual (1963 series) #5 (Marvel, November 1967), script and pencils by Jack Kirby, inks by Frank Giacoia, colors by Stan Goldberg (?), letters by Gaspar Saladino

A big No-Bull Prize to Pal "Rowdy" Rob London, Marvel Research Team/Handbook guy, who helped me remember where those last panels came from when my post-COVID brain fog totally swiss-cheesed my memory. I yam embarrassed, but Rob saved my bacon. Thanks, Pal!
