Panels from "The Oxnalian Revolution" in Superman (1939 series) #15 (March-April 1942), script by Jerry Siegel, pencils and inks by John Sikela
So: Don't be like Oxnalia! Or else Superman will come to assist the country you invade in its struggle against overwhelming odds.
(I'll have more from this story later.)

Am I reading the 3rd from last panel right? Did he really swing the guy in the green suit by the leg and smack the other two guys in the face with him? That's awesome!
Also, where do you ... nevermind.
Yep. My turn: Am I reading the 2nd panel right? Did Clark totally blow his secret identity by thinking out loud while sitting right next to his editor?
Pssssst! Hey Bully! You have another [insert Vin Diesel and/or porn joke here] caption goin' on!
I use the "XXX" for stuff I have to fill in on a template and sometimes I forget! Every once in a while I do a term search on my blog and find one or two that I haven't caught!
And I read panel 2 as "Gosh, if *I* were Superman, I'd show them a thing or two!"
You're absolutely right, Bully. I was so focused on the lack of parentheses and quotes (which they used to used to denote stage-whispering or thinking to one self around this time) I didn't properly register the next panel's caption.
"they used to use to"...
Also, I gotta say, with all respect and no offense intended to Joe Shuster, my favorite Joe Shuster Superman is John Sikela's Joe Shuster Superman.
