There was some 4th wall type stuff about how awful the nose was. It was intended to make him more menacing, if you can believe that!
Confirmed -- Even fully clothed, Hal Jordan's butt is MUCH nicer than Tony Stark's!

Vinnie Colletta was well known for drawing women in their underwear but men, not so much.
Of course, if I had written the story, the next panel would have a caption like "Fifteen minutes later" and Iron Man would still be locked in the room, but I'm a smart aleck that way.
