The fact that this is vaguely funny is the reason I told my friendly local comics shop to cancel all my Marvel titles. I've always been a huge Iron Man fan, and only slightly less so a Cap booster. They've destroyed both titles for me, so I see no reason they should still get my money.

Um, surely the obvious way out of this corner is that the dead Cap who quit was a clone and original Cap will return and clean this Augean Stable/ heal the hurt/ mend the rift/ make Marvel great once more and give Tony such a smack. Not that I endorse any of this nonsense.
On a less cynical note, I'm old enough that I remember my jaw dropping with wonder when Professor X was revealed to be alive in the Thomas/Adams run. To my 10 year old self it all made sense and was amazing at the same time. I do hope there are some children for who Captain America's return will be awesome.
