I think I figured it out: September 17, 1992 was the day when all the headlines were dominated by the assassination of Iranian-Kurdish opposition leaders Sadegh Sharafkandi, Fattah Abdoli, Homayoun Ardalan and their translator Nouri Dehkordi at the Mykonos Greek restaurant in Berlin, Germany.
These strikes in question were probably below the fold or in a wire-service story inside.
