I was fascinated and not a little spooked by this story as it appeared in DC's 1974-75 Christmas with the Super-Heroes tabloid/treasury. Fun fact: Reprints like that one often leave out a page of the story, and the name of the tale changes around a bit too, as I discovered earlier this year when helping to hash out reprints for the GCD [link to record of original].
