I have to say I really appreciate Walt Simonson's rehabilitation of the Voluminous One, and his repeated demonstrations that there was more than a cowardly buffoon underneath the bluster and the blubber.
As much fun as the Kirbylicious goofiness of these classic appearances might be, I do hope you spent some time on Volstagg the Family Man and Volstagg Who Should Not Be Underestimated Despite His Buffoonery.
Also, is there any "...make mine Marvel!" letters page vow more distinctively 1980s than this possibly inaccurately remembered one in a "Thor" comic in the Simonson era? "Until they start calling Volstagg 'The Kitchen' (he has to be bigger than 'The Refrigerator'), make mine Marvel!"
