Funny part is that I think Shanna the She-Devil (which is a nice two-fer) is the only one where it's intentional. I'm pretty sure that the Savage She-Hulk cover is just an unfortunate juxtaposition of cover copy and image.
Had it been John Byrne's Sensational She-Hulk, then there'd be an arrow pointing to the end of She-Hulk

It's certainly the only cover where their pants are conveniently crammed in their cracks (indeed, there's no way those grey slacks would work like that, but what else is new...)
Yeah, i was aware that the Shanna one was absolutely intentional "in your face" buttness while the others were mostly just a standard (mostly Marvel) motif of having the protagonist or villain face away from the reader...but I had to throw in at least one modern exploitative example!
Believe me, there's enough instances of the "innocent" kind to make a whole 'nother Sunday sequel!
One interesting thing I found when scanning for covers on this theme: I actually actively went to look at Witchblade covers (not recommended in large doses) figgering that's give me a few examples. To my surprise, except for one or two out of 100 issues, not really. Almost all the time, Witchblade tends to focus on the front, um, parts, rather than the back ones.
Hmmm, that's a whole 'nother series of posts. But maybe not for this li'l stuffed bull.

YAY!
That is, as they say, ass-tastic.

Well, "in your face 'buttness'" alone made me smile, so well done.
Given Prince Namor's prominent Speedos and the Invisible Girl in bondage, I have to wonder what "his terms" exactly are ...
