But ROM's expression is priceless! "Barton, why are you yanking my chain? You know my corporate masters would never allow me to serve in your Avengers" Or maybe I'm reading into it too much.
Love the disembodied Iron Man heads and the various techniques used to represent suitable emotions -- from Jack Kirby's depiction of a withering glare, to the halftone used to make ol' Shellhead's shell head look crumpled in thought.
And Iceman looks more like Crichton from "Red Dwarf."

That Amazing Spider Man cover...
Aunt May - "Dear God, Peter, that's... have you seen a doctor about that? We should have had that special talk a long time ago."
J.J.J - "Parker, don't you dare bring that into my office!"
MJ - "Oh, great, thanks for warning me."
Could have been worse, the title could have been "A soul of a spider"...
Huh.
Nice to know ROM was considered for avengers membership.

The phenomenon of the Floating Heads of Marvel Comics examined here.
Great piece, Mark! I didn't spot yours before I did my "Ten of a Kind"--you did it so much more thoroughly and extensively.
I found a handful of DC ones I didn't use (a number of LEGION books, especially).
Hehe, floating head...nice!
The 'floating heads' trope always weirded me out. I don't like the...disembodied-ness.
I do, however, I like how Spidey's checking out Magneto's butt on that Secret Wars cover...
