Christmas Caroling

Happy Christmas!

This morning Marshall and I were talking about how, when you are staying in a hotel over Christmas, you might miss out on some of the treats that you get when you are home—like Christmas carolers at your door. So we thought it would be a lovely holiday treat for the people staying in our London hotel if we went Christmas caroling around from room to room. What a wonderful sight we looked and sounded as we moved down the hallway, banging on each door in turn and breaking into cheerful choruses of

Good King Wence's car backed out
On the feet of Stephen

And

I saw three ships come sailing in
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day
I saw three ships come sailing in
And then they sailed away!

We had knocked on every doorway on our hall in the hotel and were ready to pop into the lift and start on another floor when the hotel manager came up and shooed us back to our room, pointing out that it was only four-thirty in the morning. So even though we didn't get an invites to come in and have hot chocolate or any ha'pennies, it was still a dead good time Christmas caroling.
