Today in Comics History, October 8: The Day That Goes By in a Flash

Happy Flash Day! It's the day we all get together and celebrate Really-Quick Guy Barry Allen!

from Flash: The Fastest Man Alive (2020 digi series) #8 (DC, June 2020), script by Dave Wiegosz, art by Davis Lafuente, colors by Luis Guerrero, letters by Rob Leigh

Wait, it doesn't say October 8 there, how do we know it's October 8?...and not, say, February 11, which is the date of Flash Day on DC-Earth?

I've done a little bit of detective (comics) work, and I believe this story is set in the Arrowverse, where today is Flash Day.

from The Flash "The Man Who Saved Central City," season 2, episode 2 (DC Entertainment/Warner Bros. Television, October 6, 2015), story by Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, script by Andrew Kreisberg and Gabrielle Stanton, directed by Ralph Hemecker

Why? Because Arrowverse Iris West (Candice Patton) is Black, as she is in this story, drawn to resemble her.

"It seems so simple, Holmes, once you explain your reasoning! But tell me…who is one of Aquaman's most dangerous villains?"

"A yellow manta ray, my dear Watson."
