That scene always bugged me a bit. I don't think Batman would give a flying floop about Ben's "rough-edged" charm. (The Thing is no more gruff than Metamorpho, for example)
It just seemed to be thrown in because Kurt Busiek wanted to highlight the difference between classic Marvel & DC (A difference these days that's marked more by sales figures than tone, in my book.)
P.S. Love the 365 days with Ben Grimm, though! Wish I had thought of the same for Supergirl!
"Yer idea a' small change, huh?" is a brilliant line. It's just so hard to write Ben Grimm badly.
I also enjoy that scene, if only because everyone is making a big deal about how hard it is to hop between the universes and the differences between them... but for Ben Grimm? It's another day at the office, and another wacky Stretcho contraption to get strapped into...
Also, I too like the small change line.
I love this part! When Batman and Ben are shaking hands I kinda felt a connected tie there between Brave and the Bold and Marvel Two In One.
That was one of my fav lines, too.
I LOVE this crossover!
In Kurt's defense, he threw a plot reason in to explain why the heroes of the two worlds were spending so much time harping on those differences (blah blah blah subliminal blah blah villain blah blah magic be-a-jerk mind control blah).
Without that, I'd like to think that Bruce's reaction to meeting Ben would be, "He reminds me of a cop I know in Metropolis, named Turpin ... ."
