I don't know, Bully, I'm unconvinced. He looks sort of yellow in most of those panels. If only Roy Thomas had written a story to explain the discrepancy...

I think there was a story about an old Jedi rabbit redeeming himself also. Kind of a Don Quixote tale.

And the next time I get in an argument about the many reasons I think Star Wars is stupid, I'm gonna use this as my finishing move.

Thanks, Bully!

He might explain how Earth-2 Bully has better scanning and Photoshop skills than Earth-Prime Bully! It's more green in the original; some of it got lost during scanning.

There's actually two different stories you're thinking of there (neither one a rabbit). In the same story with Jax (the Giant Green Star Wars Rabbit!), one of Solo's Seven is...um..."Don-Wan Kihotay," a crazy old coot who claims to be the last Jedi but no one believes him, until he proves himself in his final battle. (You can spot him in the group panel above where Han is crouching--Don-Wan is in the middle between the giant chipmunk and the Luke-wannabe without pants.

Then there was a second, slightly less weird story in Star Wars #49 about a reptilian alien claiming to be the last Jedi, but no one believed him until he proved himself in his final battle. This is a much better story (script by Mike Barr, art by Walt SImonson) from around the period the Marvel Star Wars comics actually started getting really good, and interestingly enough it still holds up today post-Episode III: there's nothing in that story that is invalidated by the later movies.

One of these days I'm going to do a big-ass post or series of posts on the Star Wars Marvel comics, because I may make fun of them but I do truly love them. Star Wars #21 was the first Marvel comic I ever bought, too.

I totally had one of those comics when I was little. As soon as I read the phrase 'giant green Star Wars rabbit' I knew exactly who you were talking about. "Cool! He's posting about Jax!" Of all the things for me to remember.

So who came first, Giant Green Star Wars Rabbit or Bucky O'Hare?!

Well I'm just gobsmacked.

What's hilarious is that Lucas started putting editorial pressure on Roy Thomas because he's unhappy about this giant green rabbit, (rumor reported by Comics 101's Scott Tipton: http://www.moviepoopshoot.com/comics101/115.html).

And then what does Lucas do decades later? Adds a giant green Star Wars Rabbit-duck:

(I assume he's green. Colorblindness notwithstanding.)

Its been a while since I was into the Star Wars novels. But I believe that post-dead Chewbacca Drunken Han was travelling around with some alien that was described as vaguely rabbit like. So the Giant Green Star Wars Rabbit may be cannon for the books...

Post-dead Chewbacca Drunken Han is one of my favorite Star Wars action figures.

Star Wars 16 is one of the first comics I ever remember reading. Giant Green Star Wars Rabbit confused the hell out of me, since no Giant Green Star Wars Rabbit action figure existed.

I think it would have been more interesting if he were an invisible rabbit that only drunken Han could see.

I salute you, bull.

If you've got any fondness for Jaxxon and the rest, those first Marvel issues have been adapted and spun off into an audio drama...
