The Party of Lincoln mostly ended with Lincoln's death. Sparks remained during Grant's administration. The modern GOP started manifesting with the Gilded Age -- arguably earlier in the 1860s with the financial scamming and grifting that went with building the railroads. (Teddy Roosevelt was an exception to a limited degree that didn't survive his administration.) All of which is to say that your reversed polarity had been happening long before the 1960s and actually started accelerating in the 1950s. Just saying. If there was a god, all of them would be smited al a Sodom and Gomorrah.
