Today in Comics History, July 1: Happy birthday, Debbie Harry!

Born on this day, the very coolest of days to have a birthday: singer, songwriter, and actress Deborah Harry, singer/songerwriter/actor and lead vocalist of the band Blondie!

If you're of a certain (old) age (like John and Randi) you probably heard rap first on your radio by her group Blondie, performing "Rapture"! That's why she's on the cover of this Hip Hop Family Tree!

She's met Betty and Veronica...

...and she and Blondie saved the Archies! Hey, though, "Sugar, Sugar" hit the top of the charts years before "Rapture!"

Happy birthday, Debbie Harry! We're simply MAD about you!
