Ten of a Kind: And I Would Walk Five Hundred Miles

I know this is just a drop in the bucket for some of you, but I'm pleased as Hawaiian Punch (and a li'l surprised) at this: this is my five hundredth post on this blog. Not bad for a little stuffed guy without opposable thumbs, huh?

None of this would be possible...or have a point...without the wonderful people who read, comment, link to and enjoy my little puppet-town cow-blog here. That's you! Give yourself a big hand or hoof, whichever you have, for keeping the joy in blogging and making the fun come alive for me. Thank you, each and every one, for reading!

  1. You deserve a big hand (hoof), Bully!

I don't leave comments often, but I'm really glad to be reading your posts. I like these "ten of a kind" collections a lot, by the way.

It's interesting to look at this one and to see how many awful moments are preserved, like hideous flies in prehistoric amber, in those superhero issue-500 milestones. I can't tell whether Batman or Thor should be more embarrassed. (Probably Batman, since he couldn't even show up for his issue-500 cover.)

Anyway, keep up the good work, Bully!

Like Ben Grimm, you totally rock!

  3. Congratulations Bully!

The video feedback cover for Action Comics is really cool too!

Say, when are we gonna see 10 cow covers?

Definitely Thor! Have you ever seen the posts Dave Campbell did on Thor #499? (here and here). I can't imagine #500 is any better.

    Funny you should mention that...

Thanks Mark! That's high praise indeed from someone whose blog I greatly admire myself! Gorgeously designed (one of the most attractive-lookin' blogs) and whimsically illustrated...y'all should check it out!

  6. No, thank YOU, Bully for your 500th post.

Speaking of which, I don't believe for a minute that Witchblade has had 500 issues!

Is it me, or should Thor's ponytail be dragging on the floor behind him?

  7. dear mr bully...

    2 things:

#1 - I have a terrible (English) habit of coming home from the pub and sending you Gobbledygook messages which seem funny to me at the time but which I am embarrassed about the next day.

    Is that OK?

Secondly - I think that Detective Comics #500 is possibly the best comicbook ever.

Am I allowed to continue bargeing into your blog?

If not I will just do so ANNNONNNYMOUSLT>

  9. Hi Paul! Sure, comment away. I do delete some of the long series of comment after comment after comment sometimes because they confuse people. But no personal offense taken or meant--I'm just trying to keep them on topic as well.

Detective #500 is a great book, isn't it? Prob'bly my personal favorite out of all of these that I've read.

  11. Congrats Bully!

It's been 500 posts of pulse-pounding action in the Mighty Moo-ville Manner!

    Or something like that ...

    Keep up the good work!

  14. Oh Dear!
I began to lose interest at Action and Adventure at about #300.

Suddenly I look back and realise that when I began reading these great comics in 1960 I was just 20 years into the hobby...

    Suddenly it's 2007...

    ...60 years into the hobby!!!

    Doesn't time fly.

  15. Ah yes, the "Detective Comics" 500th Anniversary issue from March 1981. Little did we know when the first "Detective Comics" came out in 1481 that it would have survived even to this day...!

Seriously, congrats on your 500th post. I came in pretty late in the game, but I've been enjoying it!
