If you're a fan of superhero comic books, you probably know the work of artist
Adam Hughes. And if you know Adam Hughes, you know his artwork is notable for a couple specific things:
That's right: he signs his art with the two letters
A and
H! (And one a' these:
!) Like so:
Mister Hughes is so well known for his
AH! signature that even
his Official Adam Hughes Website is titled
"Just Say AH!"
Why, if you
look carefully, you
may be able to spot the
AH! signature in each of these Adam Hughes pictures. Take your time to find the signatures...go ahead, you may take
as much time as you need looking at the pictures.

Yep, I know there's no immediately visible
"AH!" in that last image. But don't let me stop you; keep on looking as long as you need to. The
AH! might just be there
somewhere.
But the thing about Adam Hughes that a
lot of people don't know (and I intend to remedy!) is that he very frequently appears
in comic books as
a surprise character appearing just off-panel. That's why so many comic book characters are shown
reacting to the arrival of Adam Hughes! For example, Adam hangs out in urban police stations...
...and in the deepest reaches of the galaxy...
And in the Old West,
everybody loves Adam Hughes!
Please remember not to mispronounce his name! It's
AH!, not
And whatever you do, please do
not mistake Kid Black Panther for Adam Hughes.
So there you go! Whether you're looking for a good-girl artist for your comic book covers, or a cameo guest star in your story...
So, thank you, Adam Hughes, for making us search as diligently for your distinctive
AH! signature, as diligently as Batman searches for clues!
