(Oh, what a terrible pun.)Bullyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11708103213119467419noreply@blogger.comBlogger1125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16823651.post-1167722545112156922007-01-02T02:22:00.000-05:002007-01-02T02:22:00.000-05:00With all due respect to Wayne Boring and Jack Kirb...With all due respect to Wayne Boring and Jack Kirby and dozens of other very fine american comic artists...the man, Frank Hampson (And his backroom team), who produced the Dan Dare strip each week for about 10 years was probably responsible for the finest comic strip EVER.<BR/><BR/>For financial reasons such a wonderfully-drawn and detailled strip will probably never be attempted again.<BR/><BR/>(Frank Hampson even used to get his dad to wear Dan's costume, photograph it, and use the picture as a reference so he could get all the folds, highlights and shadows exactly right! <BR/><BR/>And, just to give you an example of the other extremes he went to,he build a model of Dan's spaceship [Anastasia] so that he always drew it in the correct perspective.)<BR/><BR/>Absurd over-the-top detail. <BR/><BR/>But thank you so much, Frank.<BR/><BR/>By the way...I have never heard anyone make this point before (Possibly because everyone else Has A Life)...but has anyone other than me noticed that there was never a LADY Treen shown in the Dan Dare strip?<BR/><BR/><BR/><BR/>Oh - and thanks again, John/Bully - for the "Serendipidous" chain of events that led me to me becoming some $1,000 better off this Xmas.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
