Real Life Stuff

Bully steps aside today to let Pal John rant about the trouble he had getting vital medication. Take it away, John!:

I realize I'm the one who's always telling you don't forget to take your meds...but...

Three weeks ago on a Monday I called my doctor's office to request two meds get refilled. By Friday I realized nothing had been filled so I called them again to ask them to refill them. ...

...they got back to me and told me the two meds had been filled.

I was out of town all that week and when I got home I discovered the Rx had never been sent to the Pharmacy.

I called again this past Monday to tell them to refill the meds immediately.

... They told me they'd send it into the pharmacy that day.

Thursday comes and it still hasn't been sent into the pharmacy. So I've just realized been off these meds for two weeks and I've been feeling lightheaded, dizzy, and disoriented the last several days...

...I was really upset and angry, and feeling sick.

I called them first thing that day and decided that if I can't talk to a real person, I'm going to the medical office in person and demand they refill them immediately, and I wouldn't leave until i get a text from the pharmacy...

... I never have had to bug them like this in the past, but this had got me really angry. I'm genuinely certain I've screwed up my thyroid count because of this.

Anyway, take your meds and don't let them make continuous empty promises without following up.

(LATER) Turned out they sent it to a pharmacy I've never dealt with and doesn't have my info on record. Nice job!

So I went into the doctor's office this morning and told them I need the Rx put in again today.

They promised they would, I headed home, no word from my pharmacy. I called the doctor's office back at 3 pm: they hadn't put it in yet. Told them that I needed it sent in TODAY, end of business day. Which,at that point, was in half an hour.

So, just now: went to the pharmacy. They have the prescription but they wouldn't fill it because it was sent to a different pharmacy -- you know, that ONE I HAVE NEVER USED.

Which I walked to and FINALLY GOT MY PILLS.

Now imagine if I hadn't had insurance or English was my second language.

Grrrr.

Bully and His Pals: Artoo-Detoo

While on our vacation in Westbrook, Conneticut (dig our comfortable homestay apartment overlooking the sea!), Artoo-Detoo and me are hanging out watching Rogue One, as you do!

This is the electronic Artoo that will follow along watching Star Wars movies and interact with the film. Unfortunately, this is a broadcast on TNT and includes commercials, so he keeps resyncing. So far Artoo has commented on ads for Pinot Noir and perfume, and danced to Beyoncé’s "Halo."

I think I need to try him out with a) DVD, not a broadcast with commercials; b) a movie with him in it more than Rogue One. When it worked he was great, but as it went on he seemed to be a few seconds ahead of the movie with his reactions.

You're a great pal, Artoo!

A Grand Day Out: Seeing the J. M. W. Turner exhibit

While on our vacation in Westbrook, Conneticut, I am "taking in" (that's the way fancy art buffs say it) the J.M.W. Turner exhibition from The Tate Museum in London at Mystic Seaport Museum! Wow, I did not know he was quite so huge, y'all — he has an enormous autograph!

The Adventures of Bully: Vacation in Westbrook, Connecticut

I am now on vacation (yay!), and we've gone to Westbrook, Connecticut! A nice timeshare resort but in the middle of nowhere 9so it should at least be quiet), and all the reviews of the place on Yelp make continuous points of how bad their food is. We are on the second floor of this townhouse!

Stuff Bully Got: Cool old comics from Petrucco's Collectibles

While here in Florida, I visited Petrucco's Collectibles, a great resale store near Sawgrass Mills mall Sunrise, Florida (north of Fort Lauderdale) — sports cards, comics, LPs, games, and other collectibles plus a dozen or so boxes of cool dollar comics!

I wish I coulda bought a lot more but getting an entire longbox home on an airplane would be unwieldy! Here's what I did pick up:

Plus two '90s comics I once owned and have regretted getting rid of!

Many thanks to the manager who let me have first look at a new dollar box that had just come in — got the Rimas and the Mikaal Starman from there! Good stuff!

Thanks, Petrucco's!

For my snack tonight: I am havin' one of my special cow bowls full of Ample Hills Creamery's new Spider-Man ice cream! It's full of rich cherry goodness (and no spiders)!

It is not only really delicious but it also has a picture of Spider-Man on the carton! Who says we're not living in the Golden Age of Novelty Food? Not me, I can tell ya that.

Plus, on the carton there's printed a little comic to read while you're eatin' it! Ohhh, Peter! Don't give away your secret identity on the iced cream!

Well, goodnight and sweet (ice cream) dreams!
