As I watched "Swing You Sinners" --- for the first time, I might add --- I was struck with how many different shots there are in just eight minutes. I don't know if Disney was going through shots as quickly at that time --- my memory says his cartoons were more likely to stick with one shot and have the animator work the pantomime aspects. And I think most live-action talkies from 1930 would have technical difficulties lining up so many shots in so short a time. I think the impact of cartoons like this one on theater audiences must have been like three cups of expresso with extra sugar.
