I miss Gwen as well, and thought Bryce Dallas Howard's portrayal far outshone MJ in Spidey 3.

Gwen was definitely the Betty to MJ's Veronica. I wish Marvel had found a new counterpoint to Mary Jane after Gwen's untimely death - MJ's "maturation" robbed the character of her spunk.

That's a great essay. I'm working on one for that blog right now and I am having a hell of a time choosing one thing to write about. I heart everything.

I know I'm coming late to the party-- just discovered your blog-- but thankyou thankyou for your wonderful essay. This is, by far, my favorite period of spider-man, and your piece says everything that needs to be said about it. Mary Jane is cool, but spider-man was never better than with gwen stacey.
